Hi there, I know it’s been awhile but life got in the way. On this long time off, I realized blogging was not only therapeutic, but was also dearly missed. I told myself as of 2014, “this is the year (though every New Year is ‘the year’) that I will make time for things that make me happy! I really missed doing this, and as a promise to myself I will do my very best to keep The Bambi Eyes alive 🙂
So on with the show!
My skin fought a lot of battles in 2013, but I managed to find and cherish products that I found that worked best for my extremely oily skin.
It took me a awhile to love this product but once I discovered it worked extremely well with my Clarisonic it became something I cannot live without. Who doesn’t love a cleanser with green tea in it? Caution – do keep away from eyes because it will sting like there’s no tomorrow!
Acne.org Regimen Kit
Like I mentioned above, 2013 stored a lot of problems for my skin. I do suffer from adult acne and it especially hit big last year. Like most people who suffer from acne you try about everything and anything. It took a long time for this kit to actually work though – at first it dried out my face which was annoying since having patchy dry pieces of skin on your face is never attractive nor manageable. But I have noticed a big improvement since using this. If you want more of a review on the acne.org regimen I will gladly write one out!
Moving onto makeup.
MAC Woodwinked & MAC Bronze Eyeshadows
I’m pretty sure I wore the same eyeshadow colours this year (I know, boo me for being boring!). But what can I say – when you are always on the hurry you go straight to the “go to” makeup look right? These MAC shadows went to good use in 2013.
As the saying goes, “this is my “Holy Grail” product”! Words CAN explain how this works so well. But first, if you have very oily skin like I do, this should be in your makeup bag – no questions asked. Second, this is awesome for my fellow oily ladies out there- since it is a gel foundation, the oil that you produce throughout the day is so minimal. Honestly I have never used a setting powder even since I’ve started using this, and even when I did get a bit oily during the day it wasn’t enough to bother with powder (yup, it’s that good). This foundation works so well that it’s almost a second skin. A must have even into the new year.
Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer in SX 11
I started using this late in the year because it didn’t match my skin tone for the longest time until I started to get lighter in late November. It is on the pricer side so it is a bummer that I can’t have one for my summer skin tone too! I must say, this concealer will change your life. It glides on smooth, the texture is flawless, and a little goes a long way (seriously). If you are bless with nice skin but have a few spots, this is probably all you need.
Bare Escentuals Buxom Big & Heathy Lip Polish in Destiny
At some point we smaller lipped women just gotta’ accept what God gave us and work from there. I did notice a boost in volume with this lip gloss so that’s why it was always a go to and will continue to be.
Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Express Mascara
I have always been a fan of Maybelline mascaras so this was no surprise to me that they would do it again. This is certainly a graduation from The Falsies Mascara!
As for hair…
Batiste Dry Shampoo in Floral & Flirty Blush
Since experimenting with blonde ombre and few months after with a light caramel hair colour over the summer, my hair needed some time off. So I started to only wash my hair every 2-3 days instead of everyday. This came to the rescue between washes for a fresh touch up.
LUSH Sea Spray Hair Mist
Another summer 2013 favourite (wishing it were summer right now!). This smell, Oh THIS SMELL! I’m pretty sure this is what life would smell like if we all had a summer beach house somewhere hot…and wonderful. Anyways if I was having a limp hair day and needed a bit more jazz this helped too!
I’d love to know your 2013 beauty faves so that maybe they can be my 2014 favourites 🙂
