2014 Beauty Roundup

We’re just about done for the year and yet again what a year it was in beauty! Throughout the year I’ve tried a few things here and there – developed new loves or stayed with existing loves. Here are the winning products in my books of 2014!

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream
I know this may have been showcased on my blog multiple times (not only this year), but I just keep coming back. This BB cream has never let me down since it leaves a natural finish and still looks like my skin but better. This has also been perfect for my very oily skin.

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer
Of the few bronzers I own, this one got the most usage of all. Besides the chocolatey smell and taste (yes I tasted it!) this bronzer works well and looks great on both my summer and winter skin. I loved the fact that I could use this all year round.

Bh Cosmetics It’sJudyTime Eyeshadow Palette
Last year this was a huge beauty favourite, and it continued on to be in 2014. The saddest part is this palette has been discontinued (good thing I have a backup!), so for those of you who didn’t get your hands on at least one, you really missed out on a fantastic neutral palette. This is still the most versatile eyeshadow palette I own that has colours that flatter all types of looks and all types of skin tones. It was another wonderful year with Judy’s palette!
Purchase: Discontinued 🙁

Sleek MakeUP i-Divine Sunset Eyeshadow Palette
This palette has been nothing but perfect for when I want to add more glitz to my eye look. I love every shade and how creamy and blendable they are! The best part is how they can also be used for simple everyday looks. I find that every colour is flattering and romantic to the eyes. Overall, another wonderful palette that got a lot of use this year.

Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow in Bella Sand
On the days where I’ve either been lazy or just feeling minimal this has been the eyeshadow I’ve constantly been reaching for. It’s the perfect champagne colour since it isn’t too white or too yellow, nor chalky. I love how the shimmer isn’t so overwhelming as well.

MAC Cosmetics Pro Conceal and Correct Palette in Medium
This concealer palette has been perfect for transitioning from summer to winter. The best part is being able to customize the colours by mixing them if one isn’t exactly the colour you’ve been looking for. Simply amazing and I’m totally carrying this over into 2015!

Gerard Cosmetics Lipglosses
These lipglosses and in general GC has been the talk of the year on the interworld. To be honest, the prices have not been that reasonable but the beauty of these glosses do make up for it – particularly Salmon and Nude have been my best colour matches. Even though the price has been a bit steep, I would repurchase these just because I like them that much.

City Lips Plumping Lipgloss in Sun Diego
I never knew I’d love this gloss as much as I do! This has replaced the use of regular lip balms since it keeps my lips very moisturized while plumping them; and I must say, the plumping action actually does what it says.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow
Here’s another product that has been featured on my blog about a billion times (ok not a billion but you know what I mean!) but this has been a big part of my eyebrow routine and will continue to be for as long as it makes my eyebrows happy!
Purchase: HERE at sephora.com

ELF Eyebrow Treat & Tame
On my lazy or wanting a more natural eyebrow look kind of days, this has worked like a charm. This has also been perfect for those times when I’m on the go and need a quick fix or a touch up. You will always find this in my purse.

Amie Spring Clean Deep Cleansing Mask
At times I felt most stressed I just applied this mask and all worries seemed to go away; along with that my skin felt alive and refreshed after ever use. This is probably the best clay mask I’ve used in years.

Paula’s Choice CLEAR Regular Strength Acne Kit
I never was able to get down to writing a proper review on this line but for the past 3 months I’ve been using this skincare regimen and it has saved my skin. I previously used another skincare line but Paula’s Choice has been a lot more gentle and effective. This seriously has been a miracle and I’m forever a fan! I love the way my skin looks now and I’m even confident enough to go out without any cover up!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil
I know they say that 100% pure tea tree oil does the same thing but I notice this one works better and faster to get rid of blemishes. This is my forever spot treatment!

Yes to Cucumber Facial Towelettes
Just as I was writing this post, I already finished my last towelette in the pack so I wasn’t able to take a photo of this one (sorry!). The first time I got these I didn’t see what the big deal was, but after I was able to remove my waterproof mascara with one sheet it had me at hello. I especially love to carry these around when I travel since it’s so convenient for removing makeup quickly or just freshen up throughout a plane ride.

Schwarzkopf BC hairtherapy Color Freeze Treatment
My hair definitely handled a lot of colour and heat this year and this treatment was there to the rescue. Once to twice of this treatment a week has restored more shine and strength to my hair. Not to mention, the smell is amazing!
Purchase: At professional hair salons

Bedhead TIGI Urban Anti Dotes Resurrection Shampoo + Conditioner
With the help of this combination, my hair hasn’t looked this great air dried in awhile. It makes my hair look, feel, and smell amazing (here I go again with the word “amazing”). The best shampoo and conditioner I’ve tried by far!
Purchase: At professional hair salons

RevitaLash Advanced
I wasn’t sure what category to place this under, and since eyelashes are technically hairs I decided to place this here (hehe). This is a pricey product but it has been worth every penny. In less than 2 months I saw dramatically results in the length and thickness of my lashes. This has also helped to keep my lashes growing stronger.

I thought this part would be a fun little thing to do…

  1. Great post! I use the Body Shop Tea Tree Oil all the time too, so simple, but it really works! I can’t wait to get my hands on my own MAC Pro Conceal and Correct Palette too 🙂
