It’s that time of year again where we inspire to have that perfect summer glow and bronzed skin. There are tons and tons of products out there now made specifically for these targets which can be a tad overwhelming at times. So I’m here to narrow it down for you just a bit with my favourites. Whether your combo, normal, or oily skin [such as myself], bronzing and highlighting works and looks amazing on everyone.
Colourpop Super Shock Cheek – Aphrodisiac
It took me awhile to figure out this formula but I realize that my fingers were the best at applying this unique blush which can also be used as a bronzer or for contour. As a contour this is definitely not made for darker skin tones, however I see it being a very nice blush instead. To be honest, even as someone like myself who is between a medium to tan skin tone I don’t like it too much for contour, but I do love it for applying above my favourite bronzer for a gradient look.
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Medium/Deep Matte Bronzer
I’m pretty sure this is the millionth time mentioning this amazing bronzer, but I can’t help it if it’s so amazing! It has been my favourite bronzer ever since it first came out, and I love that no matter what shade my skin is it always matches and blends well. It’s perfect since it’s not ashy nor orangey – it just gives you the right amount of natural brown and bronze tones.
The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer
I’ve been having a hate-love relationship with this one but recently I’ve been loving it again. My hate for it has nothing to do with the product personally – just the fact of being an oily skin girl can make highlighters seem like something to stay away from. But I’ve finally figured out a way to make this work so that it doesn’t add to my oily skin throughout the mid-day. I usually like to apply this above my blush, below the arches of my brows, and a bit on top of my arches as well.
e.l.f. Baked Eyeshadow – Moonlight Serenade
I bought this awhile back but never really played with it until now. As a highlighter it’s more on the yellow side which isn’t always my favourite for the eyes, however I do like it to highlight my cheekbones or really super light dabs of it on top of The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer just for a bit more dimension.
MICA Beauty Cosmetics Shimmer Powder Bronze
I didn’t expect this eyeshadow to be as good of a highlight as it is. It can be quite intense but if you apply it with a very light hand it looks amazing especially on medium to darker skin. Again, this may not be for everyone but if you’re looking for a bronzed look this would be the perfect product to achieve that look.
Milani Cosmetics Baked Powder Blush – Luminoso
Although this is a blush, it acts more maturely than a blush. That may sound weird to you but it’s extremely versatile since it does way more than any normal blush can do. Depending on your skin tone it gives your cheeks a very natural subtle wash of colour while highlighting, and making your skin glow beautifully . Best of all, besides being very universal both the quality and the price are amazing.
It’s time to go shopping again, so what are you favourite bronzers or highlighters?
