A few weeks back I was invited to the Revlon #ColorStayAllDay Event in my city of Toronto, and to be honest I haven’t really been too familiar with Revlon products before, so I decided it was the perfect time to learn more about the brand and what they have to offer. Before I get into the products I received from the event, I have to mention that Gigi Gorgeous was the host (I entered the elevator at the same time as her and her entourage and I freaked out a bit and told her I loved watching her videos — btw, she’s extremely sweet!) for the wonderful evening filled with beauty, new friends, and fun drink names such as “No Way Rosé” — ha!
I don’t normally do this, but I’m going to keep this a bit more on the casual side and go at random about the products I received, but in a mannerly form as much as possible. I got a generous amount of products to put together a full face look.
At the event I was colour matched with their ColorStay Makeup Foundation in combining of shades 340 (Early Tan) and 400 (Caramel). They have formulas for both Combination/Oily and Normal/Dry skin types — I received each for both skin types since 400 was no longer available in the Combination/Oily formula. They also both have a Broad Spectrum SPF, however the Normal/Dry formula is SPF 20 and the Combination/Oily is SPF 15. I’m curious to know why this is, but either way I do love the fact that sun protection is a factor in this foundation. It’s a medium to full coverage foundation that works wonders with the Revlon Blending brush. I don’t think you specifically need their blending brush — any stippling makeup brush will do the same job — however if you haven’t got one in your collection yet, this is a wonderful and more affordable alternative.
Since brows are all the jam in my world, I’m going to first mention their ColorStay Brow Crayon in Dark Brown. As someone such as myself who likes a bold yet naturally defined brow, I initially I was not a fan of this. It did end up however growing on me quick since getting a dark brow is actually more achievable than I had originally thought, and the end result is very natural looking as well. The one downside to it is that it’s very creamy, so on my very oily skin it’s not a brow product that’s all day budge-proof.
The rest of the products I received were the ColorStay Creme Eye Shadow in 760 Earl Gray, ColorStay 2 IN 1 Angled Kajal Eyeliner in 104 Graphite, and the all new Mega Multiplier Mascara. I’m personally not a fan of silver or gray shades for makeup but I do have to say that the Creme Eye Shadow is very pigmented when applied with the small brush that is installed into the cap it comes with, and looks just as beautiful with the light touch of your ring finger. On the other hand, the Kajal Eyeliner just wasn’t working out for me. It’s a very rough formula and when “blended” with the brush on the other end it just removes the colour and looks quite chalky and faded. As for the Mega Multiplier Mascara, there’s a lot of hype going around about it, but as it’s not in a waterproof formula I already had the idea that it wasn’t going to work out for my straight lashes. I tried it out anyways and they did add an extend to my lashes with their built-in fibers, but since it’s a wet formula my curl didn’t hold as well as I wanted it to.
When it comes to red lip liners I always somehow put them on the backburner when I know how helpful they are to have underneath any red lip colours. The Red ColorStay (I dare you to count how many times I’ve written ColorStay by now) Lipliner is a great addition to have in my collection and is the second red liner I own now. I also picked out 3 Ultimate Suede Lipsticks in colours: 099 Influencer (a warm nude pink), 030 High Heels (cool toned “Barbie pink”), 050 Couture (a berry toned red). Since the formula is very creamy and moisturizing on, the amazing thing about these lipsticks are that they don’t need a lip balm before application. They all look so beautiful on since they don’t empathize any fine lines, they’re also very smooth, and look so natural on almost like a perfect second skin — I know it sounds weird when there’s such a broad range of colours, but once you try these you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about! I also didn’t expect them to be so long-lasting to the point that they are pretty much budge-proof, smudge-proof, waterproof, kiss-proof, and any other -proof.
I’ve only recently got into the hype of gel nails so it was really nice to have the ColorStay (I promise it’s the last time I write it) Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat, along side the nail enamel 535 Perfect Pair which really is the perfect beige nude pink for everyday. Both do it’s job with zero chipping, therefore I have zero complaints at all.
