Eye see neutrals

Late last year there was an ongoing trend in magazines and runways of a more natural/barely there makeup look that has been carried out into 2016. I believe this current trend deserves the real title of ‘using makeup to enhance your beauty’. Not only is it very minimal but shows off natural glowing skin while complimenting your true features, including your beautiful eyes.

Since I purged a lot of old makeup I thought it was time to [cautiously] add and build up some new goodies to my collection again. On top of that, I thought it was time to try out a brand I’ve never gotten my hands dirty with before – Makeup Geek. I may possibly be the last person in the beauty world to try any Makeup Geek products but better later than never right?

Staying on trend with the neutrals I picked up three colours I know I could and would use on a daily basis: Purely Naked (a warm satiny-shimmery medium brown), Barcelona Beach (a medium matte brown with subtle grey undertones), and Crème Brulee (a light-medium warm matte brown with peach undertones).

Being this was my first Makeup Geek purchase I was very impressed with the eyeshadows that I chose. The texture of each one is like touching a smooth buttery powder, and surprisingly enough I never had any fallout while applying them with or without using brushes. I love how well these blend and the overall look they give me.

What are your thoughts on the whole neutral/barely there makeup trend? Do you love it as well? xo.

  1. Your pictures are always so gorgeous! & I love neutral shadows. These seem like a really nice formula too! I’ve never tried anything from makeup geek, but I’ve heard that they’re great 🙂

Aw thanks! It took me awhile to decide to purchase these because they remind me so much of the MAC shadows, but the qualities of these are just as amazing and half of what the MAC shadows are. Makeup Geek eyeshadows are very much worth the hype!

  2. Great post. I’m also one of the late makeup geek bloomers. I’m about to do a review on their shadows in comparison to viseart.

Ohh how pretty are the eyeshadows, I’ve yet to try makeup geek, but creme brulee looks so pretty 😀

I’m obsessed with neutrals! I probably have several dupes within my current collection, but that’s OK. I’ve seen someone on YouTube use Make Up Geek shadows in their tutorials and they look great. One color that I’d want to try is Peach Smoothie since it looks like a nice transition shade.

Hahha you can never have too many neutrals though! The peach smoothie one looks good too so maybe next time but the creme brulee is a pretty great transitional shade as well 🙂

These are such beautiful shades! I’m a sucker for good neutrals. I’m excited to be reading more from you in the future! 🙂

Same! I probably have a billion of the same shades but they’re all so pretty lol
Aw thanks, I hope you come back soon :D!
