Flawless Summer Skin

Summer is in full swing and you’ve most likely changed up your beauty regimen. Flawless skin and a natural glow are always the best summer accessories to have in these very heated months. I like most people like to keep things fresh, and so looking healthy and youthful are pretty common goals. These are a few tips on how to not break a [beauty] sweat in the summer.

1) Get plenty of rest
Getting enough beauty sleep is the first vital step to having a glowing complexion. While you sleep, your body boosts blood flow which helps your skin to recover. So less sleep will leave you with a pasty and ashen look. Sleeping 7-9 hours is advised, but increasing your normal time by just an hour can make a noticeable difference.

2) Remember to exfoliate
It is important to exfoliate your skin regularly, in order to keep it looking youthful. Exfoliating removes the grime and toxins we pick up in our everyday lives, as well as any left over make up. It will also remove dead skin cells and boost your blood flow, giving you a fresher complexion.

3) Hair removal
Smooth, hairless skin will also help you to achieve that flawless look. There are different ways to remove hair, which one you choose falls down to personal preference. Sugaring and waxing extracts hair at the root, while shaving and hair removal creams simply removes the visible part of the hair. Be aware of moles and skin tags when waxing or shaving, as these can easily be irritated. There are skin tag removal products, but this step isnโ€™t necessarily needed.

4) Always moisturize
Maintaining moisture levels is crucial for your skin. Whether you have oily, dry, or combination skin do not be afraid to use moisturizer on your face and body – the sun can actually be dehydrating to your skin. Air conditioning and central heating also damages your skin, so it is best to maintain this routine even in the colder months as well.

5) Protect your skin
Sun protection is an absolute must for you appearance and general health. Whilst it’s a great source of vitamin D, too much sun can damage the texture and quality of our skin, as well as putting us at risk of cancer. Make sure you use sunscreen with a high SPF rating every day even when it’s not very sunny. Your skin is always at risk since UV rays can still travel through clouds. You especially want to avoid sitting out in mid-day heat when the sun is at itโ€™s strongest.

6) Go tanning without the sun
I think a lot of us have this argument in our heads of how we want that summer glow, but we also know how bad too much sun can be horrible for our skin and health. Faking a tan never hurt nobody! Whether you get a spray tan or try a DIY tan from a bottle, there are plenty of high quality and effective brands that are a lot less damaging than the sun. It’s a much healthier and safer way to get a bit of colour to your skin.

7) Keep hydrated
We all know how important drinking water is for our health, but it is also vital in keeping your skin looking its best. I’m pretty sure I drink beyond 8 glasses a day! Drinking enough water will allow your body to purify and flush out all of the toxins. Your skin is made of 15% water, so keeping these levels high will ensure you look healthy and bright.

8) Eat healthy
Healthy eating is another way to ensure your body is looking great from the inside out. How I see it is that our bodies are a temple – treat it well and give it a lot of respect. Eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, and keeping away from over processed foods does and will help to keep pimples away. Besides all that, you will feel amazing!

These are amazing tips, I feel like eating clean and plant-based and drinking plenty of water makes the biggest difference! Sun protection is also really important, even if it’s cloudy outside. I always forget to exfoliate my skin but I’ll actually go do that right now, thanks for reminding me. xx

  2. About your “faking a tan never hurt nobody” – I tried doing a fake tan and ended up allergic to it! Hives ALL over my body! So make sure to test it out in one place first hahahaha! Other than that, great tips ๐Ÿ™‚
