As the saying goes—home is where the heart is. We spent time making our home into a place that we personally consider warm and welcoming, yet with a lot of character that best represents us and our tastes. A home isn’t always built instantly and can change and/or evolve over the course of months or even years. Finishing touches such as colours, fabrics, and other furnishings such as decorations, rugs, and furniture play a huge part in our space. How we utilize them and create the “at home” atmosphere in every room is up to us.
UncommonGoods has partnered up with me to help give you some ideas on how to make your space a place that will always make you feel right at home—as it should always feel like! Every item that you’ll find on the UncommonGoods website are one of a kind, and are handmade and crafted with recycled organic materials by artist and small manufacturers, so you really know you’ll be receiving something very unique that not many—or even any—people have for themselves. As they’re a very environmentally conscious company, they keep things sustainable (aka. green) and avoid selling any products containing things that are harmful for both people and animals such as leathers, feathers, or furs. As someone such as myself who has made a conscious effort in the last couple years to steer away from these, this absolutely means a lot to me knowing I can still make my home the way I want it to look without any cruelty involved!
Aside from the many ideas you’ll get from just browsing their website, it’s not hard to spot something you know someone else you know will love. Looking through the personalized items on the UncommonGoods website I already have a few pages bookmarked for wonderful Christmas gifts that I would most likely gift to my friends, family, and other loved ones. If you get frazzled up for the season, I highly suggest you browser well through their stocking stuffers for more ideas. Am I the only one who starts to think ahead when the weather starts to cool down?
I’m sure you’ve heard it about a trillion times over, and over, and over, and over again from almost everyone on and off the internet, but the minimalist look/living/style has not yet still left the building. It’s very much A LOT of people’s preferred taste as of now, which in my opinion isn’t a bad thing at all—as we’re all trying to focus on living within our needs or simply just keeping a less cluttered place and lifestyle. Although I enjoy not having or being surrounding by many things, I do love to have a few key pieces that will bring life into a room. Besides having nice things to look at, it’s fun to customize and grow a space into something that covers your mood and persona—not going to lie, it’s also nice to have some conversational starter pieces as well!
