It’s finally feeling and looking a lot like summer in my city and I couldn’t be more happier! Although we haven’t had many scorching hot days just yet (not complaining at all since it makes these summer days very comfortable!), the sun is out to play. Influenster pulled through again and hooked me up with some new Shiseido goodies for protecting my skin from the UV rays.
I’ve come to terms that I won’t be getting a natural tan from the sun this year, especially since I’m usually working indoors, and also the fact that I’m a lot more cautions about the dangers of continuous sunbathing. Self tanners have been playing a huge role in my summer sun-kissed look, but for the days that I do spend long hours out at the beach or park, I’m going to need the Shiseido Wetforce Sports BB SPF 50+ to be there to the rescue. There are 3 shades to choose from, and I received the Medium shade. Initially when applied it looks a lot lighter than it should, but it quickly oxidizes to it’s true colour. I was worried that this wouldn’t work with my self-tan (for reference I use Loving Tan 2 HR Express Moose in Dark), but it still blends in pretty well — not the absolute best but applying a bit of bronzer helps. It also has a powdery feel and satin finish when dried, which I don’t mind at all, since it keeps my oily skin matte just a bit longer with a natural dewy glow. The only thing I don’t like about this Sports BB is that it tends to look a little ashy on my warm undertoned skin — again a bit of bronzer has been helping with evening things out!
This was something that was absolutely new to me and very intriguing! The idea of applying a cleansing oil to the face and body prior to taking a shower is pure genius. Especially after a long day at the beach, and coming back home to take a shower can feel and be quite sticky. Although I love sunscreen doing it’s job, it certainly can leave an annoying residue that is difficult to get off when washing up. I’m really not sure if other brands have such a thing specifically for aftercare, but Shiseido has their Ultimate Cleansing Oil For Face/Body to help rinse off sun protectant formulas with high SPFs, along with water-resistant foundations. It coherently works very well at removing the Wetforce Sports BB — seriously, that stuff does NOT budge at all and take a bit of elbow grease for a cleanser to do it all on it’s own! This is definitely a summer favourite already to help remove any stubborn formulas.
Although I’ve recently found my favourite budget friendly sunscreen (Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+ PA++++), the Shiseido Urban Environment UV Protection Cream is quickly stealing the show. Alright-alright, I’m not going to betray my Biore one, but the Shiseido one is a very close runner up to being a wonderful daily sunscreen. It has a very light fresh scent when first applied, as well as absorbs quickly, feels extremely lightweight on the skin, and has a matte finish. This also has a slight powdery feel (is this a trend with Shiseido suncare products?) and again I don’t mind it for my oily skin to stay matte longer throughout the day. I should also mention that it has a broad spectrum of SPF 40, and is water-resistant. I don’t know what it is about the Urban Environment UV Protection Cream, but just on its own makes my skin look so clear and healthy. This is one of those products that will make you feel amazing in your own skin; and of the 3 products I received (technically 4 products since they include a super cute cosmetic bag!) I would recommend getting this one the most.
