Je ne sais quoi

Although the temperatures have been playing some serious mind games with all of us, how can you not be excited about the month of June that marks the start to summer? We all have a special spot for summer. It’s when we go outside more, spend more time with the important people in our lives, explore around the city and beyond — it’s where we build many wonderful and not so wonderful memories — summer just has that certain “je ne sais quoi”.

The F Word.

Summer is full of surprises and new feelings. Of course we are who we are, but as the seasons change so do our attitudes and ideas. Perhaps I’m speaking from my personal point of view, but summer Stacey drops the word “fear” from her vocabulary. Fear comes in many definitions and levels, and it appears differently in everyone’s eyes. For me, dropping “fear” means to forget about the rules and march to the beat of your own drum. Don’t have fear about being bold, proud, and true to who you are — yes, even when not everyone understands or are quick to judge — just do you. I believe there’s not just one window into anything, but multiple windows that can be opened by those with an open-heart and open-mind.

Bold & Beautiful.

Since we’re on the subject of no fear and being bold, I have to share some brand new Arbonne products I’ve been sent to try out. This time around I received products that I would normally say that are out of my makeup comfort zone.

Let’s start off with The Real Conceal Liquid Concealer in the shade Light. Personally I thought ‘Light’ was too light for what I prefer, but after playing with it for awhile I’ve made it work. Initially is does come out lighter than excepted, but when it oxidizes it does blend better with your skin and the rest of your makeup. When it comes to under-eye concealer, I know it’s better to go a shade lighter than your actual skin tone, which surprisingly enough is something I’ve never really done. I do find it creases into fine lines a bit, but let’s be honest here and say all concealers do crease — more so than others. Aside from that, I love the way my eyes look more refreshed and a lot less tired.

As for Arbonne’s lip colours, I’m already a fan of their Smoothed Over Lipsticks, so knowing that they upgraded their packaging and formula got me pretty excited! I adore the new packaging since it’s more sleek and slim enough to fit anywhere. The first colour I received, Lily, is a medium pink with reflexes of gold. It may be weird to say, but I’ve always been that girl whose really picky when it comes to pinks. Only because not many suit me or fit my personality well. I really didn’t think I was going to end up loving ‘Lily’ but I did. it feels extremely comfortable on the lips, and the gold reflex makes my lips look plump and fuller. As someone with small lips I need all the help I can get!

The second Smoothed Over Lipstick, Gladiola, on the other hand is something right up my alley. I do believe finding the right red that suits you best does take time with some trial as well. You know you’re wearing the right type of red when you feel absolutely confident, amazing, and you just don’t want to remove it. Gladiola is a true cherry red, which I typically shy away from, only because I’ve never tried it out on myself. Just shows you that you never know about something until you try it out! I actually really like the way it looks and it’s a nice switch up from my usual favourite warm matte reds. I really appreciate how well the colour glides on smoothly and that my lips never get dry from these vegan lipsticks.

I hope you make June & the coming summer a time for
stepping out of your comfort zone and discovering something new ❥.

I think both of the smoothed over lipsticks suit you, Lily looks amazing! I know what you mean, back in my teens pinks never suited me and I used to go for bright reds. But I’ve lost a bit of my tan over the years and the same reds are too strong for me, but medium rose pinks are my new favourites. The formula of these lipsticks looks so smooth as well, you can really tell! 🙂 xx

I know what you mean! Winter and like zero sun took a toll on me and the reds that I usually love kind of make me look crazy on the moment hahah, I just can’t wait to get a tan back!

Such a lovely post, hun, I love your photos – you look gorgeous! I actually wasn’t aware that Arbonne did their makeup range, I was only aware of their skincare which I have tried in the past. I must say, the packaging looks really lovely and elegant! I do quite like the lipstick shades, they seem very versatile and look pretty on you. Thanks for sharing, hun – hope you’re having a wonderful week so far! xoxo

Thanks girl! Hahah I was the opposite and only knew about their makeup first before their skincare! I do think I need to experiment with their skincare though since I already love their makeup!

  6. Beautiful pictures in this post, you’re stunning. Thanks for the makeup recommendations!
