Liquid lipsticks no longer need an introduction since they’re pretty much everywhere you turn. Most beauty and makeup lovers Instagram’s are flooded with the latest swatches and dupes. Just about every brand has liquid lipsticks in their line now so there’s no escaping the hype. I’ve added a few new ones into my makeup collection as well.
Jeffree Star Cosmetics
It’s pretty much a necessity for every liquid lipstick junkie to have some Jeffree Star in their collection. I might be one of the last ones on the bandwagon, but one random day I ended up on on their Instagram and knew I just had to have the Velour Liquid Lipstick in Rose Matter. This coral-pink with a fresh mauve vibe just screamed summertime to me when I first saw it. In my opinion, this is hands down one of the best liquid lipstick formulas I’ve ever tried. It keeps lips feeling moisturized, doesn’t emphasize lines, doesn’t transfer or budge, and best of all they’re sold at very reasonable prices for it’s great quality. There’s pretty much a shade for every walks of life in Jeffee Star’s collection which makes this brand even more lovable!
I never thought I’d see the day of actually going out of my way (and money) to buy anything Kardashian/Jenner. What can I say – it’s hard to not be bombarded by the reviews and swatches online, to the point where your curiosity just keeps on growing. Did I end up loving these liquid lipsticks? – yes. Do I still think they’re overhyped? – yes. Before I explain, I ordered the Matte Lip Kit 22 and Matte Single Mary Jo K. I know these colours are so basic compared to her more fun and daring colours, glosses, and metallics, but if I’m spending almost 100 bucks on lipsticks they better be ones I’ll actually wear and get good use of! As much as I initially wanted to hate these, I just can’t since they perform just as they said they would, and have a flawless wear time. Aside from the non-drying lightweight formula, I really love how universal and flattering these shades are. As weird as it may sound, I’ve seriously never felt this good and confident in a lipstick. The prices of the kits are actually not that bad – it’s the shipping costs that really get you. Will I buy more in the future? – Probably.
So before I gave into making Kylie Jenner anymore richer, I, like everyone else went on the hunt for the dupes instead. There were a ton of raves about how Sleek’s Matte Me Liquid Lipstick in Birthday Suit was pretty much the exact dupe for Kylie’s Candy K liquid lipstick – so of course I just had to give it a go. I don’t own Candy K but I’ve got to say after seeing photos of both swatched on the lips they pretty much look identical when dried down. Not to mention – although the formula isn’t as long lasting as the Kylie’s – the consistency, being kiss-proof, and how lightweight it is are exactly the same. For those trying to avoid spending so much money on a Kylie Lip Kit, definitely opt for this one instead.
