If I could pick only one lip colour to carry around with me throughout the week it would have to be a MLBB (My Lips But Better) kind of shade. It goes with every occasion and every style – you pretty much can never go wrong with it. It takes time to find those perfect shades that suit and look the most natural on you, but when you do find even just that one perfect MLBB it does so much for your look. Awhile now, these lipsticks and glosses have been my favourites for my naturally medium pigmented lips.
L’Oreal Colour Riche | Toasted Almond
At first glance this colour can look intimidating for some people but it actually goes on lighter than you think. It’s interesting how this lipstick works on me – in the the winter it’s a medium to dark nude, but in summer it matches so well with my lip colour and skin tone that it makes for the best MLBB shade for the heated months. It’s still a bit on the nude side but when I wear this people always ask if that’s my natural lip colour.
Rimmel London Provocalips | Make Your Move
This is the darkest of MLBB shades but still pretty close to fooling others into thinking it’s my real lip colour. If I want my MLBB to last all day without any touch-ups this is my pick. Okay so maybe I do need at least one touch-up throughout the day but that’s only if I end up eating something with too much oil. Either than that it pretty much last the entire day. This is amazing quality especially for the price you pay.
ColourPop Lippie Stix | Brink
This has a modern take on the 90s lip colour, so it’s nice that it’s not completely cool toned and very wearable. I always pair this with my MAC lip liner in Soar and it’s personally my signature look for everyday. Like with all matte lippies they do end up emphasizing any fine lines on your lips so I learned it’s best to use a lip primer before applying these types of formulas.
Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural | N9 Copper Pink
I believe this was one of the birthday gift samples at Sephora from last year? Well I haven’t really played with it until just recently and I’ve been loving everything about it. It keeps my lips feeling super moisturized, has a demi-matte finish, and the colour is extremely identical to my natural lip colour – but of course just a bit better though! Whenever I run out of this one I definitely want to repurchase this again.
NARS Lip Gloss | Belize
This gloss pictures as the pinkiest and lightest of all the MLBB but in person it’s actually a natural warm mauve pink which I personally love since it adds a bit more dimension to the lips. There’s also the oh so slightest hints of gold glitter but you’d have to really look and concentrate enough to actually see them. If I’m especially having a bad lip day but still want a bit of colour, this is my number one go to to throw in my bag.
We all have different natural lip colours so I’d love to know what your personal favourite MLBB shades are!
