Some people are able to roll out of bed and look perfect with almost no effort – or, at least, that’s what it seems like. Not everyone is that lucky, however, you’ll find out that some of these ‘effortless’ looks aren’t so effortless after all. Perfecting a seemingly effortless style can actually take a lot of work. You too can convince people that you “woke up like this.” It all starts with looking after yourself, while the other is being able to style your look together.
Taking care of your skin
Looking after the health of your skin should be a long-term priority and a major part of your daily rountine. Everyone’s skin is different, so it’s important to consider how yours normally behaves. Is it naturally dry, oily or prone to breakouts? Finding products for your skin will always have it’s benefits, but it’s also important to remember that caring for your skin isn’t just about using the right products. Lifestyle can play huge part too, and so can your overall health. There are a few things that could affect the condition of your skin, such as whether you get enough sleep. Smoking or a poor diet could also have an effect and make it more difficult to have flawless complexion.
Caring for your hair
Like skin, hair comes in different textures, thicknesses, lengths, and colours. Working on how to manage yours can take some time, but the key is to finding the right products and styling methods for your hair. Experimenting to find out the perfect hair routine for you will save a lot of time. Besides finding the best shampoos, conditioners, and other hair treatments, a particular haircut could help keep your hair in check with little effort. I personally like to alternate airdrying and blowdrying my curly hair. Remember to do your research when it comes to styling tools. Sites like oomphed.com help give you an idea on which hairdryers are best suited for your hair type.
As someone who was a hairstylist turned blogger, I can tell you that styling your hair will always take some time and effort. Especially when it comes to effortless looking styles, often times those are the most time consuming. However, there has been an ongoing trend to just rock out our natural texture – which I love! Other trends that have been ongoing and never seem to fail are some loose waves or curls. The best thing for those of us who have them naturally, all you need to do is separate them with your fingers or a wide tooth comb. But for the straight haired ladies, some rollers or a curling iron is going to be necessary. If you’re in a hurry, my personal favourites are a messy bun, braids, or a high ponytail.
Choosing your makeup
If getting your hair to look effortless is hard, doing the same for your makeup can sometimes be more difficult. You might be trying to go for that fresh-faced, no-makeup-but-obviously-makeup look. Everyone knows you’re wearing a little bit of makeup, but it looks natural enough that you can all pretend that you’re not. For effortless makeup, you should keep it light on coverage and use natural colours and shades. It may seem pointless to stick to tones that are close to your skin colour, but these types of neutrals are the best to looking the most natural as possible. I like to look at instyle.com to see some of their recommendations for tones that match my skin.
Selecting your wardrobe
Last but not least, the right pieces in your wardrobe will put your entire look together. Your outfit choices will depend on where you’re going and what you’re doing, but one of the most important thing to keep in mind are your accessories. I’m sure you’ve noticed by now that the minimalist lifestyle has really been taking over – same goes with certain fashion looks. Choosing dainty minimal pieces to add onto your outfit will make your look complete in the most chic and subtle way.
