Simple Beauty Finds

Our makeup looks and routines usually come in phases, and so, I think it’s safe to say mine is still on the minimal and neutral phase. I use to be an everyday user on false lashes, super colourful eyeshadows, and heavy eyesliner, but all of that changed once I started traveling and needed to figure out ways of packing light without having to check-in my bags. Plus no know really wants to spend too much time on their face when they could be out exploring a city, right?

No, I haven’t ditched makeup (no way José!), but I have managed to be a little more practical and minimalistic while still looking put together. As much as we’d like to say “I woke up like this” the truth is most of us need some sort of help to look more alive in the morning. Here’s some new loves in my life.

Rimmel London Provocalips – Make Your Move
Though it doesn’t come off in my photos, this is a nudey-pink-brown which is the perfect “your lips but better” for me since my lips are more on the pigmented side. I’m extremely impressed with the staying power as well. It truly lives up to its 16 hour claim. After applying this on in the morning it would still be on my lips by the end of the night! Possibly my newest obsession. [purchase in store only].

Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather – Creamy Beige
I’ve recently been a one eyeshadow kinda gal, and so I decided to switch it up with a cream eyeshadow instead. I’ve been a fan of Maybelline’s cult favourite Bad to the Bronze for awhile now and I decided to try out something in their newer range of colours. I didn’t know what to expect from this one but I was already sold on the name. I’m picky when it comes to matte colours (only because I’m not sure which ones suit me best) but I like this one on! Love it for a quick natural wash of colour. [purchase].

Amie Bright Eyes Very Gentle Eye Make-up Remover
Since I do wear waterproof mascara on a daily basis, oil-free eye makeup removers don’t do enough. However, since this is such a gentle formula, I prefer to use it to take off the rest of my makeup since my skin can be more sensitive to regular makeup removers during the winter. I also really love the cooling sensation and soft clean smell of cucumber. [purchase].

Amie Petal Perfect 2 in 1 Cleanser & Toner
Now, I’ve never seen anything like this before. Since it’s a more dense substance you would never suspect that it was a cleanser and a toner in one. Recently I’ve been quite dry and flaky in my usual oily areas; yet still producing oil…this might make sense to other oily skinned ladies. However, putting this over those areas has made my skin super, and I mean, super soft. I’m quite amazed with how lightweight and effective this has been to my skin. A little bit goes such a long way, and the light rose scent leaves your face smelling phenomenal. [purchase].

Flower Beauty Lip Service Lip Butter – Rose-y Future
I can be pretty shy when it comes to using red on my lips since I feel my lips aren’t big enough to really embrace and own the look. So when I do want a bit more drama to my lips I usually opt for rosey or blush lip colours. I didn’t even look up the colour swatches and decided to trust my instincts – plus it’s Drew Barrymore’s makeup line…my hero (heh). I love how natural this looks and feels on that it could possibly be mistaken for your own lip colour. With any lip butter, you need to reapply it after drinking or eating, but it never looks bad once you do. It’s also very moisturizing and made my lips look more plump than normal. [purchase].
