Simple skincare

Finding the right skincare products that make your skin look and feel at it’s best takes time. In not so rare cases your routine needs some tweaking or even an overall change over time. I use to buy products that only focused on oily or acne prone skin types which did rescue my face when I was fighting acne. Although these products worked I started to become more aware of what I was putting on my face. Since I’ve been making some lifestyle changes I’ve vowed to look for less chemicals and less harsh alternatives to my skincare.

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser
It’s been my first time ever trying something from First Aid Beauty and it surprised me a lot more than I thought it would. Although I struggled a bit with paying $25 (+ tax) for a cleanser you really don’t need much product to get a good lather. I’ve only been using this for 2 weeks and it has vastly improved the overall look of my complexion – not to mention, my face always feels fresh and is never left looking dull after each use.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple 3-in-1 Cleanser
This has been a long time favourite of mine. I recently picked it up again at a Sephora when I headed to Barcelona and fell in love with it all over again. Most people turn to makeup wipes when they’re too lazy to remove their makeup from a night out – I in the other hand am too paranoid to do that and turn to my quick and trusty Purity Made Simple Cleanser no matter how tired I am. This cleanser has always removed every lick of makeup I had on without any problems.

Thayers Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner
A lot of the toners I’ve used in the past were very harsh to the point where it would leave my skin feeling very tight or even to the point where I would breakout in rashes. I’m so glad I finally decided to buy this since it has been treating my oily and acne prone skin oh so very well. At first I was a bit worried about the rose smelling granny-ish but in fact it smells very fresh and feminine. I love the fact that it’s also very cooling and gentle to the skin.

Beauty Origin Lab Sandalwood Face Exfoliant
This is still the best exfoliant I’ve tried to this day. Since it has no synthetic micro beads like other exfoliants out there, it’s environmental friendly skincare while doing it’s job. The best way I can describe this scrub is like rubbing the wet sand on your face and body at the beach – I love it!

Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Nourishing Facial Cream
I’ve never had a life-changing moisturizer for my skin type until I was introduced to this one. Looks can be deceiving but this little travel friendly sized guy has been my all time favourite (and probably holy grail) face cream ever since it moisturizes, dries matte, and best of all stays matte. It also quickly absorbs into the skin which is perfect for those who like to start applying their makeup right after their usual morning cleanse.

Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil
Like I mentioned before I don’t use a line of products that just focus on one skin type or concern anymore, so I’ve been using this tea tree oil as a spot treatment for whenever I have a breakout or when I see one emerging. This stuff is powerful and actually can be way too strong so I always dilute it a bit with water before directly applying it to any affected areas.

The only thing missing in my skincare routine is something to help with my acne scars and hyperpigmentation. If any of you have any great recommendations I’d love to know! Thanks for reading as well! xo.

What exactly is the purpose of the rose petal toner? I was thinking of buying it but wasn’t sure if it suited me

  2. I really enjoy using tea tree oil as well but I hadn’t thought to incorporate witch hazel into my routine till now.
