Skin

Although it’s important to wear sunscreen throughout the entire year, it’s even more important now. The sun and including us are out much longer as the summer days slowly approach us. Our skin is the largest organ we have, so treating it well is just as important as to how we take care of our overall health and being. If for some reason you haven’t yet started a daily skincare rountine, now is the time, and you will be rewarded with a youthful and fresh complexion. Here are some other ways you can keep your skin looking its best for years to come.

Wear SPF.

During the warmer months when you’re outside more and the weather is hotter, you put yourself at risk for sunburn or gradual damage through tanning. Wearing SPF is one of the best ways to protect yourself and is a step that you should never skip or overlook. Go with a high SPF, being sure to apply thoroughly to shoulders, neck, chest, the backs of your hands, feet- areas that can be easily missed and land you with a very painful sunburn. For your face, choose a product that has been designed for more delicate facial skin. If you choose a moisturizer or foundation with an SPF included you’ll kill two birds with one stone and never forget to apply it.

Keep in the shade.

As well applying sun protection, you should also stay in shaded areas when possible. I understand when the sun is out you want to be out as much as you can, so it’s important that you always bring a pair of sunglasses and a hat with you, especially when you know you’re going to be out for a long period of time. A summer hat like the ones from http://hatswithheart.com topped off with a pair of oversized sunglasses will prevent premature aging and damage from the sun.

Skincare products & treatments.

Like mentioned before, creating a skincare routine which works for your skin type and lifestyle is very important. Even just simply applying some moisturizer (of course one with SPF protect), lip balm and eye cream in the mornings and evenings is better than nothing at all. When you begin to see results and how each protect is improving your skin, it really motivates you to want to do even more. Eventually you can start adding in a serum, facial oil and regular face masks to your routine which will make a huge amount of difference and keep your complexion looking its best. And believe it or not, but going to the spa for a facial massage is a great non-invasive treatment that can stimulate and rejuvenate your skin. They only need to be done once in a while but can make a world of a difference.

Stay hydrated.

It really does starts within, so along with protecting the surface of your skin, you need to nourish from the inside out. It’s easy to become dehydrated when it’s hot outside, and this will quickly show in your skin as dryness can easily accentuate any fine lines and wrinkles. I personally have oily skin, but my skin tends to overproduce even more oil when I’m dehydrated — goes to show everyone needs to drink plenty of water! Aside from getting in plenty of fluids, eating lots of fruits and vegetables too will hydrate and provide you with all the right nutrients.

I hope you all stay well sun-protected out there! ❥

Great tips! Looking after your skin is so important, and it’s a shame that it’s often neglected. I guess we forget that it’s what we wear every single day. Also, you look incredible in these shots!
