Some Givenchy

As someone such as myself who wasn’t born with luscious long voluminous eyelashes, finding those holy grail mascaras are a big beauty challenge. I believe no mascara—low-end or high-end—has really passed the ultimate test until they can help out and create something magically for naturally sparse lashes. Since finding my favourite mascaras that work well on my me, I’ve always been a fan of drugstore mascaras, but haven’t really given too many chances with the more expensive brands.

I was one of the few that were selected from CBB Network to test out the Givenchy Noir Interdit Lash Extension Effect Mascara. Prior to this, I was very intrigued by the mascara’s 90 degree brush that I’ve been seeing everywhere! This was a great opportunity to try something different for a change—and to finally be able to see if the price tag matches up with it’s quality got my curiosity going. The claims and benefits of the Noir Interdit Mascara are: extreme length, buildable volume, and the end result of lash extension looking lashes.

TO AN EXTENT.

When I pick out the perfect mascara, and since my naturally straight lashes cannot hold up a curl for it’s dear life, one of the most important requirements are that the mascara must come in a waterproof formulation. Unfortunately the Noir Interdit Mascara only comes in one non-waterproof formula, so I already went in knowing this was going to be a struggle. As usual before applying mascara, I curled my lashes, then applied the mascara. I was pleasantly surprised that the mascara didn’t entirely bring down my lashes—however, I still needed to curl them again, add another coat, and then curl my lashes once more for them to stay intact.

The mascara itself didn’t really do much lengthening nor volumizing. On my lashes it was basically a plain ol’mascara—that’s it. I wouldn’t mind wearing the Noir Interdit as a natural everyday mascara, but for it’s claims and price point I do admit this is a letdown. As for the 90 degree brush, it’s just really damn cool. I did find it just a tad easier to get very closer to the lash line for a more even application, but I don’t think it’s anything that will help dramatically change the way your lashes look. I was sad that this mascara didn’t exactly work out for me, however, I do see this working well for those who already have a naturally beautiful set of lashes.

  1. Whoa! Now that is a cool looking wand! I’ve never seen anything like it. Leave it to Givenchy to try something totally different. That looks really interesting. Sad it didn’t work out for you though 🙁 My asian lashes would probably have the same problem. I have yet to find a mascara I loved as much as Maybelline Lash Sensational that doesn’t test on animals D: It’s SO DAMN HARD.

I know your struggle! Did Maybelline stop testing on animals if so that’s freaking amazing! But prior to loving L’Oreal Lash Paradise, Maybelline Lash Sensational was my fave too! Did you ever try the black one of that…I forgot the name but it was soooo thick lol

      • No they haven’t stopped :(. Unfortunately, Loreal owns Maybelline so regardless it’s like they’re under the same umbrella of ethics. Ugh it sucks. I used to use Maybelline but I’m trying to be more cautious about that stuff. I know the restrictions are not for everyone but I just wanted to mention that I definitely remember loving Maybelline mascaras when I used to use them! They are bomb! But I think the black one you’re thinking of is Miss Manga? That was way too thick for me too!!!!!! I think it was made for that spidery look that I’m not a fan of haha

I haven’t tried it out, but the concept is intriguing as I’ve never tried anything out like it. It’s such a shame it didn’t really do much, there’s some great drugstore options that do a lot for far less xx

Gosh girl I feel your pain re lashes – why is it that every boy I know has the most luxurious lashes you ever did see? I’ve found tarte lights, camera lashes to work pretty well, but that’s after some serious eyelash curling..
Also obsessed with what you’re wearing!

I’ve tried lights, camera, lashes and it does work well but I have the same issue with having to do major curling before and after lol. I currently use L’Oreal’s Lash Paradise and it does wonders! I haven’t felt the need to wear false lashes once <3

The wand of that mascara looks so cool! It’s a shame it didn’t really work out. I still have yet to find a mascara that I’m 100% in love with. Great review love x
