Spring has finally arrived in my city and I couldn’t be happier! You’re probably sick and tired of me always talking about the weather, but you’ve got to admit that it’s funny when people complain about the summers being too hot, and the winters being too cold. Anywho, I’ve been really excited to get back into using some of my favourite tones of peaches and corals for makeup — so excited that grabbed two new little Essence additions at the drugstore.
Pure Nude Highlighter | Be My Highlight
You may have heard many people raving about this Essence highlighter by now, and I’m here to tell you it’s worth all it’s hype. Before purchasing it, I knew it was going to be a very natural looking highlighter. I know a strong highlight can be such an annoyance look when overdone, but at the same time I have a soft spot for it (anyone else the same?). Initially I was left unsatisfied after the first few uses of the Pure Nude Highlighter, but after continuous use for a month now I’ve really grown to love it. It gives your complexion a healthy fresh glow when applied with a light hand, and is buildable for those days where you want that major pop. I believe if you’re looking for that editorial dewy look that models always have, this does that exact job. Best if all, it’s under $10.
Satin Touch Blush | Satin Coral
For a very long time, I’ve been absolutely loyal to Milani’s Baked Blush in Luminoso. I’ve finally branched out, and although it’s been hard to move on from such an already perfect blush, I’m glad I went on to try out Essence’s Satin Coral Touch Blush. If you own Luminoso, you’d know how easy it is to go ham on it and still look pretty good — Satin Coral on the other hand has a limit. It’s not a bad thing at all, but it has literally made me brush up on my blush application skills. I know I was just going on about how proud I am for trying something new, but I have to be honest — the 2 blushes are pretty darn similar; although Satin Coral is just a tad warmer toned and completely matte. Although I didn’t exactly leave my comfort zone of colours, I do get a different vibe from this matte finish that I truly adore.
I know I say it all the time, but I’ve just been really into more natural looks and having glowing skin. On the daily, and aside from the blush and highlight, I’ve just been wearing concealer to cover up blemishes and old acne scars, eyebrow gel or pencil, mascara, bronzer, and if I feel like wearing some colour on my lips, I always grab my favourite lip liner to finish the look.
