Since my city had a late bloom and things only started to really heat up recently, it surprises and saddens me to realize that summer is already halfway through. In this period of time, and aside from enjoying this beautiful yet sometimes hot summer weather, I’ve found myself really experimenting with my style. I’ve taken some steps back and have been drawn to retro and vintage inspired pieces, which really brings me back to the times when I use to go second-hand clothing shopping almost every weekend to try and be the first to find those unique and fun items to add into my mixed wardrobe of old and new.
In collaboration with the beautiful Melany from TRENDYMYMELANY, we’re both sharing our summer go to pieces in our wardrobe, so go ahead and visit her to see what she’s been all into this summer! As for myself, it’s been hard picking just one piece to be living in through the unpredictable weather. Rompers and dresses never let me down, and they’re both styles I can easily throw on with barely any effort and still feel put together for the world to see. Since I know those pieces will always be there for me when I’m in a rush or in doubt, I’ve been trying to challenge myself more by escaping my fashion comfort zone. For a very long time I’ve never really been into wearing pants. Jeans — sure — but when it came to trousers they always felt like foreign ground to me to the point that whenever I attempted to try them on in the past I’d feel absolutely ridiculous. I’ve since opened up more and learned that just finding the right pair that flatters your figure, suits your style, and just feels great on you is all that matters.
Colours and lots of it has been my jam — who knew summer would make me into this person! Don’t get me wrong — I think I’ll forever always be a beige toned kinda girl, but I’ve been having a colour and pattern love affair recently. For the longest time I always thought to myself that I wanted to add more red into my wardrobe, and here I am now with red stealing the show this summer (if you’ve checked out my previous style posts you’ll know what I’m talking about). As mentioned, I love me a good romper so I actually have one under my pants in this outfit…I guess you just can’t take the girl out the romper, period. Obviously the romper is cute on it’s own, but just to spice things up I went in and added a bit more flare to my look. I know red is already a loud colour, but since I’ve recently been a loud women I just had to have loud prints as well. In all honest I have been inspired by my mom after looking at one of her old photo albums (in case you forgot what those were, they’re like books filled with printed photos…I know it sounds insane). There’s just always something hip and creative about these outfits that make fashion really fun and youthful that I absolutely love — wouldn’t you agree?
