Summer officially arrived last week and with that comes lots of heat, and with lots of heat comes humidity which can be your makeup’s worst enemy. I know it’s cliche to say but to avoid yourself from having a horrible makeup meltdown – less is more. It’s all about being comfortable by keeping it very minimal and fresh on the hot summer days.
This is the time when my skin can take a break, and my breakouts don’t act up as much since I don’t wear too much makeup. I don’t like to have too many products on my face during very hot days so this is what I would normally wear on an average summer day.
It’s important to protect your skin from the sun and since it’s nice to have both coverage and protection Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream with SPF 35 does the trick. But for the days where I just want my skin to breathe a bit more without any coverage I would simply just use my MAC Pro Conceal and Correct Palette to cover any troubled areas, and finish off with The Balm Sexy Mama Anti-Shine Translucent Powder. I just apply that on the areas I know that get shiny fast. I also always carry around in my bag Paula’s Choice Oil-Blotting Papers to blot throughout the day.
If I was stranded on an island and only had one makeup item with me I would really hope it would be anything for the brows – specifically Missha 7 Days Tinted Eyebrows. This stuff saves me so much time on my eyebrows since it works like a self-tanner but your brows; it tints and lasts for a good week or even longer at times.
Although I get pretty tanned in the summer I still like a little bit of bronzer here and there so I use my favourite Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Medium/Deep Matte Bronzer on my temples and hollows of cheeks for a more sun-kissed glow. On my cheeks I love all my Milani Baked Powder Blushes and I like to switch up between the 4 that I own. As of right now Rose D’Oro (shimmery peachy-orange) and Luminoso (shimmery peachy-coral) are in my makeup bag.
Eye makeup can get annoying especially in the summer so I rarely wear any eyeshadows, but if I do want a bit of something I will use my bronzer for some extra depth in the crease. I normally just opt for an eyeliner and mascara so I use Rimmel London Waterproof Gel Eyeliner and Maybelline The Rocket Mascara.
How will you change up your makeup routine this summer? xo
