It’s been a hot minute since I last mentioned some makeup products. With the mixture of my winter acne attacks and trying to be careful with what goes on my face, I had no choice but to take a break from it all. It’s summer now and things have been looking up! I’ve slowly been easing back into some products again, but the fact that I haven’t worn a full face of makeup in so long has made me appreciate my own beauty without all the makeup.
In no way am I against all the works in makeup, but sometimes we do get caught up in hiding every single imperfection instead of embracing them. During my period of no makeup it has made me notice nice features that were thought of to be flaws. I also learned that less is more. All those things that use to be flaws were suddenly beautiful to me – in fact I love them now!
Of course a little enhancements never hurt nobody. These are just a few things I always make a point to do on the daily so that I look my best and feel confident in my own skin.
It’s common knowledge that we all know by now, that although the sun gives us a nice change in colour it’s also very much aging and damaging our skin. I cannot stress enough that sunscreen should be applied before heading out anywhere. If you’re like me and prefer the 2-in-1 type of deal, look for foundations, BB creams, and other light coverage with an SPF of at least 15 to get a flawless finish while protecting yourself from the harsh UV rays.
Most of us strive for that glowing and healthy complexion but the only way to really get that is to first take care of your skin. Besides making sure to cleanse your face everyday and follow up with the proper skincare products, it’s also a nice touch to add in some bronzer and highlighter for your day and night time look. I know highlighters especially are all the craze right now but with good reason since it can really bring out the high points and best features on your face.
False lashes > mascara
This could be debatable – but as for me I find that putting on false eyelashes are a lot faster than applying mascara alone. With mascara it’s easy to get clumps, fall out, or lashes that just don’t want to cooperate and move around in all weird directions. However, with false lashes you just need to add a bit of glue to the band, wait a few seconds, pop them on and you’re ready to go. You can probably tell by now that I just love to save as much time as possible when getting ready :P.
No budge lips
Another hard to resist ongoing trend in makeup are matte lips. There’s nothing more annoying than your lipstick rubbing off throughout the day and having to constantly keep reapply. Since the arrivals of budge proof and liquid lipsticks it has made our makeup lives just a little bit easier. If anything is growing in my makeup collection it’s definitely in the lips category. My colours of choice for summer so far have been pinky-nudes and polar opposite orange tones.
I know this isn’t a makeup product but I don’t think any look is complete without smelling the part as well. So far this summer has brought me into experimenting with different fragrances. I did however already find my most loved and go to scent that has deserved the title of being ‘my current signature scent’. The idea of picking out a fragrance for any occasion has always been something to inspire for The right scents can trigger certain memories and feelings so that whenever you take a sniff it will always bring you back into that time.
Are there any beauty regimens you follow by in the summer time?
