Sun’s out which means it’s beach time, however sunbathing for a long period of time isn’t the best thing you can do for your skin or overall health. The popularity of sunless tanners in the last few years has grown since we are all becoming more and more aware of what damages the sun can cause – wrinkles, fine lines, sun spots, skin cancer, just to name a few. These guys make it possible to achieve that bronzed goddess look without the harsh UV rays. Whether these products also be for those who get burnt from the sun or have trouble tanning, or just want to enhancing your tan – these all get the job done.
Victoria Secret Pink Lost In Love Tinted Self-Tanning Gel (discontinued [alternative])
This is an affordable alternative for those on a budget. The gel formula makes it fast in absorbing into the skin so the wait time before you can put your clothes on is very reasonable. It has an initial yummy coconut scent but that goes away a few hours in but it’s nice while it lasts. It does continue to leave a sunless tanner smell on your skin for a few days but I don’t see it being a problem especially if you live on or near a beach since I believe it mimics an ocean fragrance.
Feel Like Trish Anti-Aging Sunless Tanner
This is another great budget self-tanner. I would say this is perfect for those especially starting to self-tan because it’s very easy to apply and is perfect for building-up colour instead – not like a lot of tanners that often just instantly make you dark. This is also suitable for those that just want a subtle boost to your tan. Generally speaking, this is really great for experimenting with finding what shade you are comfortable with.
St. Tropez Bronzing Lotion & Bronzing Mousse
This was my very first brand of self-tanner. I started off using the mousse but I actually prefer the lotion just because I have had problems with the mousse streaking since it does quickly absorb into the skin so it’s hard to take the time to blend it out properly. In other words, if you aren’t fast enough you are going to look like a complete mess. If you are quick with blending then the mousse is perfect for you since with the lotion you have to wait just a bit longer before you can get dressed again for it to fully dry.
Million Dollar Tan Cabana Tan Extreme
By the time I bought this self-tanners were starting to step-up their game by creating formulas that were free of harsh chemicals. Personally Million Dollar Tan was the first I’ve seen on the market that was paraben free and included a bunch of oils such as sweet almond oil, sesame seed oil, and jojoba oil. This is still my most favourited because it always enhances my already tanned skin and gives me the perfect bronzed complexion I’m looking for in summer. This is also the first self-tanner that I own that wasn’t coloured, instead develops colour over the 6-8 hours. I like that since I find it a lot easier to wash off on your hands and doesn’t stain your clothes.
Loving Tan Deluxe Bronzing Mousse in Dark
This is by far the best self-tanner I’ve tried. I have to admit, the first time of applying this I wasn’t convinced, but overnight it magically did something and made my complexion look amazing. I looked exactly the way I do when I constantly tanned on the beach (this being a bit of a safer root). Not only is the colour extremely natural (or as it says on the packaging a “natural olive colour”), but it doesn’t leave an odor behind during tanning and even after tanning at all! One con to this is the packaging. Hopefully it’s just mine but it’s a bit prone to leaking. Either than that I love, love, love this stuff.
