Take me back and beyond my travel photos

It has been a hot summer here so far, and since I won’t be traveling anywhere anytime soon I thought it would be nice to reflect on the last few years of travels. I don’t think we always realize how lucky we are to have ever traveled since there are still plenty of people out there who still haven’t even gotten the chance to get on an airplane. The places we go and the experiences we have are ours to cherish and keep with us forever.

Just like with a song or a certain scent, a photograph that is beyond Instagram can take you back to a specific place or linked memory. Sometimes they can be bad memories, but for the most part we remember all the good times in our lives. Looking back at my travel photos show and remind me of my courageous adventures, independency to figure things out on my own even when I didn’t always understand the languages, curiosity that had driven me to take risks, and provoked the aesthete side of me in different ways.

We all have that trip or vacation that has changed or moved us for the better. Once we get on that plane into the unknown of a different country we are not the same person we once were. Our third eye awakens and everything we once thought we knew about goes completely out the window – of course in the best way possible.

Tokyo, Japan |2011 – My everyday scenery for almost  a month.

Montréal, Canada |2011 – Poutine, pretty much a must in this metropolitan city…I wonder if it comes in vegan form now.

New York City, USA |2012 – One my favourite times because I got to meet dirty spider-man.

Dominican Republic, Samaná  |2013 – It was one terrifying boat ride to get to this secret island but so worth it!

Naples, Italy |2013 – A horrible time to come here (end of August) since nothing was opened.

Sorrento, Italy |2013 – Was on a mission to find this abandoned mill – mission accomplished.

Positano, Italy |2013 – I pretty much already died and gone to heaven. THIS IS HEAVEN.

Rome, Italy |2013 – Flipping my hair in front of the Coliseum on this scourging hot day.

Madrid, Spain |2014 – A reminder of when I followed my heart.

Toledo, Spain |2014 – I didn’t get the chance to take many photos here because I was having a blast. By far the most romantic place I’ve ever been to.

Barcelona, Spain |2015 – I just adored the simpler things.

What has been one place you’ve been to that has changed you forever?

I love this post, Stacey! Your photos are beautiful and I can even imagine how many good and fun memories they bring back to you. I don’t know if I have visited a place that changed me yet but I fell in love with Crete. It felt like my second home 🙂

It was really hard narrowing it down to these few of all the great memories :]
Well if when do find that place it will be life-changing forever <3

  4. I’d love to visit Spain! Looks like a beautiful place. I’ve been on typical vacations like Cuba and whatnot but nothing that has really struck me as awe-inspiring. Don’t get me wrong, the places are gorgeous…but they’re just vacation spots hahaha ! I want to go to Thailand so badly.

    • Stacey says:

Every place has something special about it even if it’s not always obvious 🙂 You should definitely make that trip to Thailand if you want to go badly!

Amazing pictures, Madrid is one of my favourite cities and I’d love to visit Montréal & Tokyo! You’re absolutely right by saying that travelling changes us and that once we get on an airplane we ultimately change into a different person – that might be my favourite thing about travelling actually, it inspires us and enriches our hearts and minds. xx
