The beauty transition

As we start to see the winter months slowly fading away—this is right about the time when some of us seek out new skincare and haircare products to help repair the damage from the cold temperatures. I also know for a fact that as the seasons start to transition, both hair and skin can experience a bit of a freak out towards the changes. It certainly isn’t always easy picking out the products you may need to help with your beauty concerns, but you got to start off somewhere.

Skincare.

Eye-opening
Perhaps I’ve been living under a rock, but I’ve only recently heard about hyaluronic acid in skincare. I’ve done a bit of research and with the benefits such as renewed skin and it’s capability of locking high contents of moisture; I just had to take advantage of the situation and try out the Cougar Hyaluronic Acid Eye Serum. A matter of fact, not only was this my first time trying out hyaluronic acid but also an eye serum. My under eye area has never been that big of an issue, however if I can keep it this way, or at least from aging anytime soon, I don’t see any harm in taking care of business now. I absolutely love this serum so much that I even spread it a little further out from my eye area onto the tops of my cheeks for added benefits. The most noticeable difference is that I wake up without looking tired even when I don’t get a good full nights rest.

For skin impurities
Although in the last few years sheet masks have gained it’s well deserved and heightened popularity (at least in the western world), I still love a good clay mask for my pampering me time. The Cougar Wild Caviar Purifying Face Mask however has been a new experience for me; never have a tried out a facial masks like this. Wild caviar, seaweed, and fish roe are well known factors in skin’s rejuvenation and are perfect when it comes down to anti-aging since they are all high in Amino Acids, and Vitamin’s A, D, B1/2/6. The Wild Caviar mask is actually targeted towards drier skin types, and although I’m the total opposite of that it has helped to balance out my skin’s texture. Because it is such a highly concentrated masks I think once a week is all you need when you have oily skin; and as for dry skin, I see this being a favourite to use at least twice or three times a week for the masks to be truly effective with noticeable results.

Haircare.

Styling without harm
Sometimes hair can be just as complicated as your skin. In the last year I’ve been really consistent with keeping all my haircare products vegan, and free from paraben, sulfate, and gluten since my hair has always had unpleasant reactions from these. I’m new to this brand, but the Pai-Shau Biphasic Infusion has been the missing piece to my very simple and cruelty-free haircare routine. After many years of constantly colouring and using a straightening iron on my hair, my ends are still paying for the damage. Pai-Shau’s Signature Tea Complex helps to make hair super smooth, silky, and hold in moisture without loosing any volume. One of the coolest things about the Biphasic Infusion is that the two binary products are activated when you shake the bottle. Aside from the fact that this smells exactly what it’s like to die and go to heaven, I love how the product doesn’t just sit on my hair and really does penetrate in deeply making my naturally very wavy hair frizz-free and better defined.

  1. All of these products sound really good, especially the hair infusion – I went to the hairdresser yesterday to get part of my hair bleached and toned so I could really use some nourishing hair products. I have never heard about hyaluronic acid in skincare either but I’ll go check it out xx

I naturally have the driest and frizziest hair ever but the hair infusion has been amazing to my hair so you might really want to check this one out. I’m learning more about hyaluronic acid and it’s such an amazing thing to have in skincare!

  3. Love this post! I’ve been hearing a lot about hyaluronic acid as well! And other acids used for skincare. It can seem overwhelming for someone who has always tried to incorporate essential oils to their skincare, like myself. I’m learning what the perfect combo is for me right now. But it’s really fun! I feel like I have even more products to work with/try out now! 🙂

Only in the last 6 months or so have I started playing around with oils. It took me awhile to trust them because I have oily skin so I thought they would make my skin even more oily when reality it has made my complexion so much better! Hyaluronic acid holds the most moisture content actually so you might also be really interested in trying this one out!

      • I felt the same way before I worked at LUSH. Of course now I love them. Essential oils have helped my skin so much! But I definitely want to find the right balance of oils and acids for my skin because all oils can create build up over time. I’m definitely going to read more about it. I think I’ll like them too! 🙂

Ah you worked at Lush before?! It seems like so much fun to work there! For sure once you find your skin mixture it will work wonders!

          • Yes! For almost two years. I left because I finished college and found another job; the one that I am at now. It was so fun working at Lush. I met so many amazing people and learned so much about natural skin care! Learning about different acids and what they can do for skin renewal is like a whole different experience though haha. Not in a bad way, i’m just so new at it I feel like a beginner again! it’s so fun though 🙂

I haven’t heard about Cougar brand but that face mask sounds very nice and I would love to try it. But I have to admit, I am terrible when it comes to face masks. I buy lots of them and forget to use them, haha.

Prior to this I didn’t know the brand either but their products are very reasonably priced for the quality so I think they’re awesome! I need to be like you and stock up on masks because I never have enough 🙁 hahah

That face mask sounds really interesting! I definitely find that this time of year especially is when I need to do a little extra for my skin and hair. I’ll have to look into that hair infusion!

  7. The purifying face mask sounds amazing! This year has been very rough on my skin… the weather can’t seem to decide weather it wants to be warm or cold.

I know what you mean! I’m currently breaking out because of the changes, plus the constant dry heater 🙁 I just want the weather to be warm and normal now!

I haven’t heard of them either prior to this and I’m so glad that I got the chance to discover them! I’ve been using the hair infusion everyday and it’s been all love to my hair <33

  9. I’d love to use a good eye serum, haha could skip the “looking tired in the morning” part. Have heard so much good about serums being the solution, so that one sounds great! Have a lovely week! Xx

I think I’m cray for serums now and will be on the look out for more to add into my skincare. I hope you have a lovely start to the week too girl!

  10. I have never heard of any of these products before but they all sound wonderful. I have tried an eye serum in the past and it was an interesting experience. I did enjoy it but I realized I just prefer using just a good ole eye cream. With the cold temps here in Toronto (and I’m much further North so it’s a bit colder here), our hair and skin definitely need some tender loving care. Thanks for sharing these. x

That’s true, it’s all about preference and what works best for our eye situations lol. I don’t know about you but I just want this cold weather to go away now!! :(((((
