The retro wardrobe

When you look back on previous decades, you are bound to spot fashion styles that leave you feeling envious. After all, there are some classic pieces that you would love to add to your wardrobe. And the best thing is that retro has always been and will continue to be on trend. You can always rely on celebrities like Zooey Deschanel and Katy Perry to be rocking a vintage look. There are some of us who don’t know where to start when adding vintage to their wardrobe. Here are some easy and quick ideas on how to add some retro into your style.

1. Opt for some high waisted or flared jeans
When it comes to choosing jeans, a lot of us always grab for a pair of skinny jeans – they are perfect for showing off your figure. But if you want to add more of a vintage look, consider choosing a pair of high waisted or flared jeans. The best thing about these type of jeans are that you can dress them up or down. My personal favourite are high waisted jeans with a floral blouse tucked in. High waisted shorts are also a quirky addition to your wardrobe.

2. Bring out the vintage tees
Who knew that all those old band logo tees and t-shirts that your parents passed down to you would be so stylish and handy someday! I for one have kept a few tees from my own past, or even ones from when I went digging around in thrift stores. Thifting can sometimes be challenging, but you can find these on sites similar to Old School Tees that will help stock your wardrobe. Actually, I’m current on the hunt for some vintage movie tees!

3. Dress up your denim jacket
Everyone can agree that denim jackets are pretty much the epitome of vintage. It’s really the only one clothing item that can make any outfit go from old school to modern. You can easily find some oversized denim jackets if you head to some thrift stores. And you can make it even more retro by adding some classic badges, or even iron or pin on some patches to recreate an 80s look.

4. Add on the necklaces
If you were a 90’s kid, you might have thought you were experiencing deja vu when really chokers have just came back in fashion. About everyone and their mothers (alright, it’s a bit exaggerated) own a few pairs to match up with their everyday outfits. This stylish fashion piece can make any look a bit more interesting and more put together. And if you want to take it a step further, a pearl necklace or locket are both cool accessories to add in.

Great tips! In fact, girls can find most of these items already in their closet – all we need is some inspiration.
