The Single Ladies Guide to Valentine’s Day

Don’t think I left you girls out! Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a bummer or a day on hating couples out there (we have feelings too!). The confident woman that you are knows that this is just another day – so whether you want to do your own thing or with others, you are the one calling the shots.

Pamper Yourself

There’s nothing better than treating yourself to a spa day. Put on a face mask, hair mask, and give yourself a manicure/pedicure. Fun tip: If you want to feel even more pampered take a bath while you’re at it.

My favourite easy at home remedy for dry hair:

1/2 Avocado

2 Tbsp Coconut Oil

2 Tbsp Olive Oil

Step 1: Melt the coconut oil first by putting the bottle under hot water until it had become a liquid. And while that’s happening, start cutting up the avocado.

Step 2:  Once the coconut oil has melted, mix everything together including the olive oil.

Step 3: Apply. Since our ends are usually drier, start from the bottom and work your way up. Try not to get too close to your roots since our scalp already produces enough natural oil.

Step 4:  You want to keep heat in so wrap your hair up with saran wrap. Leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes then rinse. If you can avoid it, try not to wash your hair the next day but the following day instead.

Face mask of choice:

LUSH Cosmetics Warrior – If you have very oily and acne prone skin this mask is made for you. It is infused with teatree oil and garlic, so it smells a tad funky but it’s bearable.

Or if you are feeling “spicy”, check out my DIY face mask.

Movie Marathon

I don’t know about you but movie marathons are always a hit whether you’re single or not.

My movie picks for a girly night in:

Girls – Yeah, technically this is a TV show but nonetheless a perfect pick for a marathon with your own girls. If you are in your 20s, this touches home.

500 Days Of Summer – Sometimes we have to watch our reality for it to be a reality. This is one of my feel good movies for its true possibilities. We’ve all been there and there’s nothing better than having it revert back :p

Romeo and Juliet – The one with Leonard DiCaprio (duh!). Besides the eye candy, this is not a sick to your stomach kind of romance. Beautiful cinematography, great music,  tragic ending – perfect.

Get Together With Your Friends

Whether you hold a dinner party at your house or decide to take it outside at a lounge with some fancy drinks- make it a good time with your friends. These are the moments you rarely experience when you and your friends are single. Valentine’s Day is also a day that you are celebrating your single life (and possibility of meeting new love).

After all you just did an at home spa and watched some great films, might as well hit the town 😉
