It’s no secret that I sometimes struggle with my skin. The good news is that it has been improving since I’ve been using the right products and keeping it clean. Many of us know less about our skin than we think we do. There are things we think are true that are actually false, and there are things we have never thought about. If you want to look after your skin properly, you need to know some important facts about it.
Personalize Your Skincare
It might seem obvious to some, but everyone has to care for their skin differently. Some people get acne, while others always have clear skin. Some have dry skin problems, while others have oily skin. Just because a friend or a magazine recommends a product, it doesn’t mean it’s going to be right for you. The best thing you can do is look for products that are formulated for your skin type. For example, mandelic acid is excellent for oily skin, while Bio Oil is great if your skin is dry.
Easy On the Washing
It’s become standard in many places to shower at least once a day. Sometimes it can be necessary to shower often, such as when you live in a humid climate. However, washing too often can also be damaging to your skin. If daily showers keep your skin feeling healthy, there’s probably no harm in continuing them. However, if you get dry skin, showering or bathing too often can make the problem worse. You can try showering everything second day when possible. If it makes you feel unclean, try washing around important areas with a cloth or wet wipe when you don’t shower.
Stay In Shade
Sometimes people believe that as long as they’re wearing a sunscreen with a high SPF, they can be in the sun as much as they like. In fact, some people don’t even bother to be that cautious. The truth is that you need to be careful in the sun, and while sunbathing might be enjoyable, it’s not a good idea. You increase your risk of skin cancer by spending too much time in the sun, especially unprotected, or on tanning beds.
Don’t Exercise That Face
Myths about skincare can float around, and many of them are related to anti-aging. It makes sense because so many people want to slow the signs of aging. One thing many people recommend is doing facial exercises to keep your skin tight. But they don’t work, and will probably just make your face tired. Your skin loses its plumpness because of a lack of collagen, elastin, and fat. Doing facial exercises could actually make your skin wrinkle more because you’re moving and folding it more often.
