Updated Skincare Routine

Some of us may not have our skincare pat down the way we would like it to work – it really is about trial and error. No one’s skin is perfect but we can try to figure out what makes it look great enough for ourselves. We may have been suckered into buying a lot of skincare products in hopes that it will preform a miracle, however sometimes it’s good to go back to basics. I’ve changed up my skincare routine in the last few months and have been pretty happy with it.

Morning Routine

I normally just use water to wash my face in the morning, and then put some Bioderma Sébium H2O as a toner. To help combat my acne during the day I use Paula’s Choice Clear Daily Skin Clearing Treatment and put a thin layer on my usual problem areas. Afterwards I grab for my most loved moisturizer, Amie Morning Dew Matte-Finish Moisturiser which is super lightweight so I like to apply it all over my face and neck. I don’t usually wake up with bags under my eyes but the Clarins Eye Contour Gel is still a nice treat to apply in the morning since it leaves a very nice cooling sensation. Last but not least, I like to prep my lips before applying any lip colours with Lanolips Banana Balm 3-in-1.

Night Routine

Since I’ve entered the world of oil cleansing Extra Virgin Olive Oil has been my one-step cleanser to taking off all my makeup and other dirty at the end of the night. From my last posts about Natural Skincare you’d know that the smell of Apple Cider Vinegar is really not my favourite but I love the results of it as a toner. If you come from a culture that always kisses each other on the cheeks that is definitely a smell you don’t want coming off you for the other person to smell (so you bet I use this only at night)! I started using Retin-A Cream 0.05% only at night since it tends to be very drying to the skin. I apply it to my problem areas such as my forehead, cheeks, and chin. As for moisturizer, I like to pat small dabs of Jojoba Oil all over my face. You can never forget the lips, so using Dr. Lipp Nipple Balm For Lips has been a wonderful life saver.

Other Treatments

Once in awhile I’ll get those annoying blemishes, but The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil has pretty much saved me every time. As for my weekly face treatment I’ve been a big fan to using Amie Spring Clean Deep Cleansing Mask. The clay mask gives you a relaxing tingling feeling while you have the mask on and even after washing it off.

I love reading your skincare routine.

  2. I love skincare routine post because I can learn so much about different products. I have heard a lot about the Dr. Lipp Nipple Balm, I’m going to have to give it a try:) Great Post!!!

    • Thank you! And to be honest the dr. lipp nipple balm works exactly the same as any 100% lanolin products and it’s hell of a lot cheaper, but if you’re like me and just want it for the cute packaging then go right ahead haha

Love your blog! I used to use retina and was always irritated by it! I found out that retin-A overturns cells fast so new skin is produced which caused you to age faster! I switched to arbonne genius pad which is a plant base retnoid and it does the same without making you age as fast! I love it so much! I have been dealing with acne since I was in middle school and this really helped clear my skin and the discoloration is now gone!!

    • Is that true?? Well since I’ve written this I find myself using it less and less but I had no idea it makes you age faster wow. I will take a look at the arbonne one though, thanks!
