Before beauty disasters

Although they are rare, beauty disasters can strike anywhere at anytime. Disaster always seems to hold off until the worst possible times. It may be that the adhesive glue to your false eyelashes are wearing off, or the heavens open as you walk to work and everything goes down the drain. One thing you can be sure of is that you’ll be as far from your makeup as possible when something happens. Or will you? Taking your beauty essentials out with you is the best way to ensure disaster doesn’t ruin your day. There are a few ways to help that.

Get the right bag.

It should go without saying that you’ll need to reconsider the bag you use. I personally love to carry around small bags, but there’s no way they ever fit all the things I need if I’m going to be out all day.Bags don’t need to be bulky, just look at www.weldenbags.com for some ideas for bags that will best suit your lifestyle. You’re going to use it every day, so it’s important you feel comfortable. Bags with pockets or compartments come into good use. I usually set one section for beauty products I know I’ll be needing throughout the day.

A makeup bag you can rely on.

It’s not just your bag itself that you need to consider—you’ll also want to invest in a good makeup bag and perhaps you may even need to go out and buy a new one. You may think the bag you have now is fine and that could be the case, but taking your whole collection has its risks. Not only is it unnecessary and heavy, but you’ll lose everything if your bag goes missing. Instead, set aside the products you know you’ll need when you’re out. You’ll need a new bag for them or at least invest in a small travel sized makeup bag. Even a soft drawstring bag will be much easier to fit into a small space.

Travel size it down.

It’s also worth considering repurchasing your makeup selection—that is to buy smaller versions of what you already have and love. Travel size products like the ones on www.sephora.com, will serve your needs and can I mention how adorable they can be as well! They’re lighter than their full-size counterparts, and they’ll also take less room in your bag. If you fancy the idea, you could even use this as an opportunity to try out some new bits. Any excuses, right?

Mirror, mirror, in my hand.

Of course, none of this will do much good if you don’t take a mirror along with you. All the times when I needed a mirror to do even a quick check I didn’t have one on hand. Yes, we could always use the bathroom mirror, but that’s not always convenient. Buy a compact mirror and always make sure to keep it somewhere in your bag where it’s easy to find in case of a beauty emergency.

Some great tips here, lovely! I remember the biggest beauty disaster was when I was travelling to Rome and my foundation bottle got damaged in transit; foundation pretty much exploded inside my makeup bag and it wasn’t pretty. >.< I have been a lot more careful since! <3 xoxo Thanks for sharing these tips, beauty! <3

Omg that’s one of the worst things that could happen with makeup, especially when it’s foundation since that stuff doesn’t budge much! Glad you liked the tips 🙂

I’m packing for a trip later this month and will definitely consider these tips. Sometimes I get a little OCD with liquid products and put them in a small zip lock bag before placing it in my makeup bag. You never know when a sudden leak/spill could happen.

Yes, such great tips! I always forget to bring a smaller bag with me when I’m on a weekend away. Similarly with smaller sizes, I bought some smaller bottles to decant into on my last trip!

This is so true! I always forget to bring a pouch of makeup with me during the day, and I always regret it because I can’t do touch ups.
    Great tips!

Perhaps leave a lip balm or a pressed powder in your bag so that its always there for just in case. I do that with lipsticks heheh

  8. Love this post! You’re always so good at captions. Also I totally agree with you on narrowing down your make up bag! I have done the same and not only does it save time in deciding which blush to use, but it really saves space too! I love collecting beauty product, but for daily use, you gotta have your go-to’s in one bag!
