Brow game

If you know me well enough, you’d know I’m a freak when it comes to playing around with different eyebrow products. Although I’ve experimented a lot and already have a promising eyebrow routine down, I’m always open to new ideas and room for improvements. Arbonne let me have some fun with three of their brow products.

Since gels and pomades became a thing, it’s been quite awhile that I’ve actually used an eyebrow pencil—because my skin generally is very oily, pencil formulations don’t usually hold up well throughout the day. Shape It Up Brow Pencil (in shade Dark) though has more of a soft smudge-proof crayon texture which helps your brows stay on much longer. Initially, this did take a bit of getting used to—it’s something very different from what I’ve experienced with an eyebrow pencil before. I’ve also learned that a light hand is really all you need before you start to look like an angry or crazy person. The attached spoolie on the opposite end makes blending the thick texture much easier and natural looking. To top it all off, it’s very easy to appreciate a warm brown pencil that doesn’t have an overwhelming red undertone.

Having options are good, especially when there’s two options to choose from! Since I’m a fan of bolder looking brows, let’s start off with the Shape It Up Tinted Brow Cream in the colour Medium/Dark. I honestly thought this was going to be the same thing as my beloved and very affordable Essence Make Me Brow Gel, but as much as I hate to say it, Arbonne’s brow cream has already taken it’s place. Not only does it polish off the overall look after using the brow pencil, but it also creates great definition and thickness when worn on it’s own. Note that it’s extremely buildable and can really enhance the appearance of how thick your individual eyebrow hairs are — this is a huge win in my opinion!

For those subtle days, Arbonne’s Eyebrow Gel does the trick. Again it’s been way too many years ago that I’ve used a clear eyebrow gel to hold it all in place—and I don’t remember them being this good either. Not everyone loves the trend of the untamed runway eyebrow look, but I do! This eyebrow gel helps achieve that messy but edgy look naturally and effortlessly. My eyebrows are a bit on the stubborn side so I need at least 2 coats to get every hair to stay right in it’s place; and I love the fact that this brow gel doesn’t get flaky or hard to manage after multiple applications. After playing around with all three products, the Shape It Up Brow Pencil and the Brow Gel had been my favourite everyday combo.

What are your current favourite eyebrow products?

I’ve never gotten on well with Brow pencil and I definitely lean toward powder because it gives a more feathered look but this brow pencil sounds quite good especially as it’s more of a crayon. I agree with Kiran, your brows are perfect.

I see what you mean though, when I’m in a rush pencils aren’t going to do it and I always go for a brow powder instead as well. Thanks so much for your kind words Kate! <3

  3. That brow game is a strong one. Love the brows on fleek. Even though I stay true to my pen, I do must admit that I’d love to experiment more with brow products and see if I can make my brows even better haha. Xx

  4. Girl, your brows are amazing! These products sound really good – although I need the red undertone I can see how that would look a bit off on your beautiful dark hair and skin tone. I’m using the W3ll People powder and I absolutely love it!
